The flight From Amsterdam to Prague was wonderfully easy. We met some Americans at our hostel who were on the same flight. They had decided to take a cab from the Prague airport to the city (about $90 U.S.). Being the cheap travelers we are, Kim and I took the bus to the Metro. Our trip took less than an hour and cost us less than $2 U.S. total. Silly Americans. Prague's mass transit is wonderful, easy and cheap. The whole city is generally cheap. Outside the tourist areas, a big beer is about $1 U.S. and a full meal is less than $5. Gotta love cheap places.
Stayed for three nights and had lots of fun and lots of fun walks. Prague is a busy, fast paced city and I'm looking forward to going to Hradec Kralove and get away from crazy tourists and locals. Charles Bridge is a famous site. I didn't think it was that great. It's a bridge. Yeah, it has some statues on it, but what can you do with a bridge? Went to Prague Castle. That was cool. We walked up 240 steps and had a wonderful view of the city (Wait patiently and pictures will come). By the by, the cathedral at the castle is free!
During our stay, the Fringe festival, a drama festival filled with music and plays, was going on. We went and saw Tarantula, a Performance Art piece. It was terrible. Maybe I'm just not in the "Interpretive Dance" scene, but then again, I'm fine with that.
The last night their, went to a fantastic bar in a cellar. An Indian woman sat next to us at the bar and bought a bottle of Champaign. Kim and her took care of it. She was born and raised in Southern India, finished her B.A. in architecture at K-State and now lives in NYC. Small world.
What has blown me away about Eastern Europe is that the cities are just as beautiful, friendlier, and just as easy to get to as Western European cities, at 1/4 the cost. Yes, I'm frugal, but everyone should experience this wonderfulness.

Opera
Go to one of the Opera's! Mozart premiered a whole bunch of his stuff in those houses, and a lot of young locals buy the cheap tickets and talk throughout the performance. It's cool!

All the performances this week can be found here:
