We started the day in true kids fashion, with a Puppet show in the beautiful King's Garden near Rosenborg Castle. It was a cleaver and entertaining show for all ages.  A masterful feat for only three puppeteers.
We then headed to the famed shopping area called Stroget.  There were amazing street performers, high end shopping, and restaurants galore.   The kids really enjoyed the Lego flagship store. The Stroget area ended near the City Hall area where the kids entertained themselves by chasing many colorful pigeons. Tivoli Gardens was located near this area, where some native American Indians were performing native pipe tunes, a Danish powwow, a strange site indeed!
Next on our agenda was the Nyhavn area, where Dan and I had a traditional Danish dinner including pickled herring, salmon, and shrimp salad with trout eggs on rye bread! Surprisingly the picked Herring looked scary but tasted wonderful!  The trout eggs with the mini tender shrimp salad was delicious too!  We tried to get Lauren to try the herring, but she couldn't do it. I don't think I could have braved it at that age.  Jessica's father did try the pickled herring, but wasn't too sure about the trout eggs.  A jazz fest was going on in the Nyhavn area, so it was buzzing with people and music, which added a special touch to the whole experience.
After dinner we strolled along Nyhavn and decided to take a canal tour. It was a bit cool on the ride, even in the bright evening sun. The harbor was a beautiful site with many of the landmarks of Copenhagen in close view.  Christianshavn was a gorgeous area with a smaller canal around the vicinity. We could also see the spiral spire of Our Saviors Church.  The exquisite church has a gold staircase located on the outside up the spire that ascends counterclockwise.
Following the enchanting and educational canal tour, we meandered home through the King's Garden. Copenhagen has an old world, sea ferrying charm, that has some interesting modern architecture.
