Where I stayed
Today I took a tour that went to stonehenge and a little town called lacock.
They gave us an hour at stonehenge and that was about 50 minutes too long for me. I took some photos from the free point, but I was too cheap to pay over $10 just to see them close up and the closer you got the harder it is to take a good photo of them. You can really tell that history isn't my thing.
I walked up to an old burrial mound and looked at the view, but overall my favourite part of this stop was the helicopter that kept flying past.
Next stop: lacock. Tiny little country town. Boring? You'd think so, but no. This little town is where part of bbc's pride and prejudice and harry potter 1 and 2 were filmed.
I know you're paying attention now. I got to see harry potter's parents house and hogsmead and there are photos to prove it.
Then the funniest and the best part of the day happened. The tour guide, who is a big nerd, lovely but definitely nerdy, told me to follow him. I did, I was a little reluctant but I followed anyway. He told me not to speak when we went through the reception of this place and I didn't. Once we were in the grounds, he told me where we were going. He had a free pass of some sort for the place that the corridors and the classrooms of harry potter 1 and 2 were filmed. HOW COOL IS THAT? We had to hurry, but I got to go in there and take photos of it. He even took some photos of me with my camera just so I could prove I was there.
So when I thought I was going to have a boring day at monuments I actually got a once in a lifetime chance to see something that all harry potter nerds dream of. And to top the harry potter theme off, the uni is taking us to see hogwarts castle the week after next. Woo hoo....
Tomorrow morning I'm off to liverpool, it's a 4 hour train ride away so maybe I'll catch up on some sleep.
xx
