Islas Ballestas and Peninsula de Paracas. Where we explored islands that are homes to an amazing amount of sea lions, seals, penguins and loads and loads of birds, hence creating layers of sunbaked, nitrogen rich seabird poo! Exported to the US and Australia for fertilizer -bit smelly!
Jon saw 4 flamingos, which is very rare for this time of year.
My luck was I found a shark´s tooth in the national park, which is entirely desert. Our guide said it could possibly be a few million years old. I was just happy with the find.
There was also very interesting design on one of the islands, very similar to the Nazca Lines. We heard about 20 different theories, of which my favourite was about the Inca´s and their use of the cactus for hallucenagenic reasons. Jon believes it was put there for the tourists and a man sweaps the lines every morning before the tourists arrive. It would have to be pretty early as we were on the 6.30am boat.
