After waking up in our 7th Motel of the trip we sampled the free breakfast although were a bit disappointed with only cereal and bagels as the options, after watching a bit of Maury (think American version of Jeremy Kyle) we were on our way to Seaside Heights on the coast of New Jersey. It is also the scene for 4 seasons of the reality show Jersey Shore, arriving at the Sea Palace Motel we checked in then headed straight for the beach to walk on the boardwalk. It was really surreal seeing all the sights we usually see on TV but in reality this place was like a US version of Blackpool with numerous arcades and food stalls plus young Americans enjoying their school holidays.

We had lots of clothes that needed washing so headed to a Laundrette, while they were washing we went to a local Irish pub and sat at the bar having a few drinks and food while watching numerous TV's with Olympics action on. After a quick trip back to the motel to drop off clothes we went to bars on the boardwalk, still in daylight and following in Snooki's footsteps, the Tex-Mex place we found had cheap beer and friendly staff who unfortunately informed us that the main clubs Karma and Bamboo where closed on Monday and Tuesday but that Aztec might get busy later in the evening. Following a few more beers and Angry Orchard (cider), we checked out Aztec and found it to be pretty empty so didn't stay long, next was EJ's a pool bar further down the Shore, had a few games here and got chatting to some people who knew more about where to go on a Monday. This lead us to Hooks which was off the front but a lot busier so spent the remainder of the evening here.

The next day we didn't wake until after midday but once up hit the beach to try to top up our tan although unfortunately it was a bit overcast, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to have a walk round and take some photos at such places as the Shore Store (where we saw the owner Danny later that evening), their house which was directly behind the Shore Store and the clubs despite them being closed. We later played roof-top golf on the boardwalk where Rich once again beat Dave and I had a shocker although got the most hole in ones which I took as a victory, Dave also won a free game by chipping his ball into a hole at the end, however he kept the vouch as a souvenir as we didn't have time to do the 24 holes again. Rich went for a quick swim then we headed back to the room to get ready for another evening on the Shore.

Our first stop was back to the Tex-Mex place where we had food and more cheap beer, our server Lea was extremely friendly and loved our accents, while we ate there was a guy with a guitar playing all Irish music and getting the crowd going; we stayed here for a while chatting to Lea and getting information about New York in terms of what to see in such a short stay and bars around our hotel near Time Square. Following this it was off to EJ's for more games of pool and laughing at a women who freaked out when she saw 6 foot 7 Rich asking if the circus was in town. We stayed in here until kicking out time, not as crazy as last night but hoping to feel fresher for our final driven to New York.
