Day 7 began in familiar fashion with a slow and steady rising and a walk down to breakfast at our Days Inn Motel, North Charleston, SC. Breakfast was good with cereal, toast and a small selection of pastries which I sampled comprehensively. Fresh Prince was on the TV in the breakfast hall which was fine but it would have been nice to have seen some more coverage of the Olympics, so we could have checked in on our athletes back home.

After packing up the Meatmobile again we checked out and headed for the I-17 taking us to our next location of Myrtle Beach. With Dave behind the wheel we made excellent progress to Myrtle Beach and as we drove down the main road into the town we passed several very impressive Mini-Golf courses! I am a self confessed lover of Mini-Golf and this was like heaven. They were all very big (like everything in the states) with elaborate designs and complex courses and not a rotating windmill in sight

We decided to give one a go and went for the Jurassic themed course as these are the carnivores that we resemble the most. Tony, the owner of this particular course was a lovely old man, he loved our English accents and was getting us up to date with the Olympics where we learned about the Team GB cyclists getting disqualified. To cheer us up he gave us a discount on the golf so we had 36 holes for 10 bucks! The first 18 named "Predator" saw both Rich and Dave get off to a steady start but it started to go wrong for Dan pretty soon with a few wayward shots 'putting' him behind. It soon turned out to be a two horse race between Rich and Dave until a poor shot from Rich gave Dave a 4 shot lead going into the last few holes. Then an Adam Scott like meltdown from Dave gave Rich the chance to bring it back and tie the first round on 44 each. The second round was much of the same with Dan playing some dreadful shots and Dave and Rich both picking up a hole in one! Rich ran out the eventual winner by 4 shots which was well deserved!

After the golf we headed to the beach. A short drive and we found some sea side parking and headed down to the beach to catch some rays. The beach was rather shelly but we found a good spot and chilled out in the hot South Carolina sun. After around an hour we headed into the water and took the ball with us for some fun and games. Later we headed back to find a place to stop for the night. The Sand Bucket Motel was an ideal location and price so we settled in and got ready for another night out.

First stop was Moe Moon's for some food and a few drinks, this place was really cheap and really good food, a few games of Pool too made for a very enjoyable meal. After this we headed down the Boardwalk to the Bowery. This place was a real gem and gave us a real taste of traditional American country life. They only served beer or white wine for the ladies and a live 4-piece country band were blasting out some classic tunes. The band were great and really got the local crowd going creating at buzzing atmosphere. Despite us not really knowing any songs, apart from Dan who gave us a lovely rendition of Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show! We moved on after a few more beers and had a couple more games of pool in the next bar along. When we emerged back onto the boardwalk it had been raining which was nice as it cooled the temperature down a bit which rarely got below 90 degrees during day and night. Another quick drink at Sharkey's and it was back to the motel for a good nights sleep before another long drive in the morning.
