Fully refreshed for another big day ahead we topped up on food and were on the road again very soon with my 1st bit of driving. Forecast for the day was isolated thunderstorm so was excited at the prospect of driving through them. 1st stop was the Kennedy Space Centre, and with clear sky could see the launch centre (if quite a way from the visitors centre). The $45 fee put us off doing the tour plus we had a fair distance to cover on the road.

Had a snack in the car park then carried on up the I-95 until our next stop off at Daytona Beach. Here we had a quick kick around showing the locals our English Football skills (or lack of in Rich's case) and almost decapitated a bikini clad beach girl with a gorilla of a boyfriend who, if I did hit her, would surely have had a word or two. It wasn't long until we were back on the road and drove into the forcasted storms. The rain was so intense that you could not see the road as you went into the storm, visibility was very limited, like yesterday, but no need to pull over today just hazards and foot down. 3 more isolated storms passed, clouds cleared and ahead was the city of Jacksonville, Florida. We tried to find a motel although there was not a big choice and the city was full of hobos so didn't appeal to us so we carried on through to Jacksonville Beach.

This was much more our sort of thing with a wide selection of beachside hotels, bars and restaurants, one that even declaired that it was 'Tequila Tuesday's' so we would plan to go there once settled in our hotel. Quality Suites was our chosen venue for the night with a 6th floor 'penthouse' suite overlooking the beach, two rooms, two tv's and a balcony. Few beers, quick swim in the pool then off out for food at the bar across the road where they had build your own burger and beer pitchers for $8.99. Strangely they had a bit of Bingo going on with the locals, all around mid 20's-30's, unfortunately we were a bit too late to join in on the $250 top prize.

After here we moved on to a small cocktail bar with a surfing theme before deciding to go back to the place that were promoting 'Tequila Tuesday'. This however was shut at around 10.30 which was shocking and everywhere looked a bit dead, however we did spot an irish bar called Lynch's which was a last hope, this turned out to be a cracking find as there was cheap beer and cider, plus a live band. They were playing their own music but then later on played some covers like Eminem's 'Superman' and 'Forget about Dre'. Got talking to a few locals including a Venus Williams lookalike who liked our style, e.g. chinos and shoes, plus obviously our English accents. After a slow start Jacksonville Beach was a real gem of a place while a real good American feel about it, definately a place to recommend and im sure at the weekends it would be even better.
