3,2,1, Blast off! As the plane speeds along the runway we are off on the start of our epic trip. Our 8 hour flight included a selection of over 50 films and TV episodes, just a few of those we watched included, The Descendants, Mission Impossible 5 & J Edgar, plus a bit of The Office, Simpsons & New Girl. Complementary drinks on the flight plus 1 meal and a snack meant it flew by pretty quick.

Customs however was not so quick, as is expected in the terrorist conscious America, however we did see one of the members from Little Mix walk past with a friend, I have to admit not even noticing until 2 lads asked if she was from the band. Picking up our rental car, a 2012 Cheverolet Impala, was relatively painless. Rich, having never driven automatic, was looking forward to driving and picked it up no problem, getting us to Miami South Beach in no time. The only delay was for the Miami Marlins ball game. We were staying at the Carlton hotel on Collins Ave, which is the next street up from Ocean Drive and a short walk to the beach.

After checking into the room, 10 hours since leaving the Uk, we had a walk down to the beach and even though it was 8pm the sea was really warm. We walked to the nearby restaurants, as we were pretty hungry by now, and found a really good Mexican with 2 for 1 on all drinks. Our waiter Matt was English and really useful to find out where was best to go out. After our really good steak burritos (although Rich said it was not as nice as ones he had in Portugal), fajitas and several different drink we started to walk down Ocean drive. On the way down we passed lots of American cars with lowered suspension and hydrolics (sorry do not know the technical term) but anyway they had massive alloy wheels and guys just chilling on the back of the car with beers and playing music while people posed with the cars for photos. A quick drink in Finnagens before heading to Clevelander the outside club that Matt mentioned, here there was a roof top balcony overlooking the lower club and swimming pool.

After more drinks and a bit of a dance, including getting a lesson on how to dance like the American's, we headed back to the hotel. However due to amount we drank Rich thought it would be fun to push me into a load of small hedges, this resulted in me mashing up my foot, in retaliation is slapped a bloody flip flop in my good friends face with blood splattering all over his white top. Not the best end to the night but heres to the next night out.
