Howdy folks,

I woke up on Monday after a good sleep and Silvana headed out for an early appointment. After she came back, we ate a good breakfast with scrambled eggs and we were ready for the day. She suggested that I go for a ride on her motorcycle which had a fresh battery. After not riding for 2.5 years I was a bit hesitant, but I knew that I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I put on her helmet which was a little tight, but that wasn’t going to stop me! I didn’t go that far, just up and down the street, but it was good to ride again. I miss my old motorcycle!

We decided to head in early to Frankfurt Airport to pick up Simon who was flying out of Australia to visit. Simon is one of my old work colleagues and also a good friend and trail buddy who I haven’t seen since I left. Thankfully he took off a month of his hard earned free time to come out and visit: my first Australian visitor since I left!

The airport wasn’t very far from her place, but we ended up parking at a nearby train station and catching the train to save money on parking. Frankfurt Airport is one of the major airports in Germany and it is pretty big with many long distance international flights coming in from America and Asia. We took a walk around and Silvana had a chat with a few ex-colleagues because she used to work in the airport.

Simon arrived after flying out via Dubai and he was very glad to get off the plane after such a long journey. Steffie made a welcome banner for him and we drove back to Edingen after saying goodbye to Silvana. Back home, Steffie brought out a welcome cake that she had made for him and we all sat down for cake and coffee. Simon met all the family and then we took a walk around Edingen for him to get his bearings and show him what a German supermarket looks like.

For dinner we had a nice roast with semmel knoedel as a traditional dinner. Simon did a good job staying up as long as he did and after sitting around the table telling stories (and trying my hand at translating) it was time for bed!
