Howdy folks,
You know what one of the most annoying thing in the world is? Having a week left in the Rockies and it raining all the time. It hasn't just been raining, but pouring and with thunderstorms. I sat up on Tuesday night and just listened to the thunder and watched the Tunnel Mountain silhouette. It kind of ruined all my plans of going on a few more hikes although the lingering snow made that difficult also. I think for someone who decided to live here in the mountains, you would really have to love the winter lifestyle.
One of the plans was to go whitewater rafting, but with so much rain flooding the rivers it was cancelled due to high water. On Thursday, the rain ceased long enough for Steffie and I to venture over to the Bow River to see exactly how much water was in it. I was shocked to find that the banks were overflown and the water level had risen so high that it was level with the canoe docks. We walked along the sections that weren't flooded and over the Bow Bridge and down to the Bow Falls where the water was spilling up and over the wall.
Definitely a very bizarre sight! And the rain continues...
That night all went down to Wild Bills for dinner. Hiro was in good form eating about 3 entrees while I had some deep fried pickles with some nachos to share. It was a really good night and good to have a few people out of the house for a change. Around 11pm we went home for a few more drinks, but it wasn't crazy by any standards.
Not long to go now!
