Howdy folks,

Well its been sweltering here in Banff this week with temperatures hitting a balmy 13 degrees and most of the snow in town has melted. That includes the giant snowball I put in the backyard which has just finished melting. It is kind of weird to see the grass again albeit brown grass. I had 3 nights off this week and on Tuesday I blew the cobwebs off the frisbee and headed downtown to play. Unfortunately not all the snow had melted in the park so we ended up playing in the slush in t-shirts. Most of the river has melted in the middle now so its no longer possible to walk across although we did briefly consider going for a swim! Not that the water temperature would have been much above zero.

On Wednesday, Kylie, Louiselle and I went up to Lake Louise to go snowboarding. It was only the second time that I have been up there so I was keen to hit the slopes. Louiselle as always was a rocket on her skis and did two runs to our one. It was pretty icy in the morning, but the day warmed up quite a lot to 14 degrees. I didn't think it would be possible to snowboard at that temperature, but it softened up the snow which made it a bit nicer. Apart from a lunch break, we were on the hill from 9-3:30pm then we decided to have a beer outside on the deck. Because the weather was so warm I didn't need gloves or a jacket and I even saw a guy doing a run in shorts! I didn't put on any sunscreen so by the end of the day my face looked like a racoon with my goggle line.

On Thursday, Steffie wasn't keen to go up the hill so we went to Canmore for shopping. It was raining the whole day so there wasn't any point going for a hike, but we caught up with Aaron who invited us over to his place to play Disc Golf on the PS3 with the motion sensor. It was more fun that it sounds and it was good practice before we hit up the Canmore Nordic Centre in a few weeks time. We were supposed to go to Canadian Tire then catch the bus back, but the power was out when we went there. Thankfully Aaron gave us a lift back and the power came back on so we could grab some gear before we left. That night we hit The Paddock for a Trivia Night which was quite fun. We came in 3rd with 69 points which was amusing.

Today I went up to Sunshine and improved on my tan line with a bit of wind burn. The visibility was quite poor although there was plenty of powder. I did this one run from Angel and I couldn't even see the next run marker and started to go down a black diamond run in complete whiteout. It was quite dangerous so I took it pretty easy until I dropped out of the clouds. I hit a few small jumps although I'm no Shaun White. My face now looks quite strange because my forehead is white and my entire face is red. Certainly an attractive look! In the evening we headed to Mel's Bar to watch some hockey and eat 25c chicken wings. I ate quite a bit!
