Well the freaky weather has continued this week with temperatures plunging to a cool -30 degrees which one morning was -43 degrees with windchill. It was so cold that my colleague Dave got frostbite on his nose after one run on his snowboard! Needless to say that getting around town and to work has been challenging.
On Monday night, Dave and I went to play indoor soccer which meant having to change out of 3 layers once we got there. But it was good to get active and have fun instead of sitting inside of the house. On Tuesday, we had about 8 people over at our house for homemade chilli con carne which was really good and I had to go to work while everyone else stayed drinking. On Wednesday I got up at midday and dressed like the invisible man just to go downtown
On Thursday it was too cold to go up the hill so went back to Adam's house to watch the Hangover Parts 1 & 2. The movies had some funny parts, but weren't that great. In the evening, we headed down to play bingo at the Legion.
Today the weather started to 'warm' up and it was -18 degrees this morning so it was time to hit the hill. I dressed up like an eskimo with my thermal baselayers, a fleece and ski pants and jacket. Doing the runs down the hill I wore a balaklava to protect my face, but there wasn't much wind which was nice. There weren't many people there and I went on 4 different lifts on mostly blue runs. My snowboarding is going pretty well although I can't do so many turns on my goofy leg. I need to get some new boots soon because the ones I'm using are old and falling to pieces.
On Saturday the weather is set to hit zero degrees, which will be a 30 degree difference in less than a week. Unbelieveable!
