Where I stayed
Howdy folks,
Well I've settled in pretty well in Banff although I wouldn't mind more of a social life. But given that I'm working nights most of the time that probably won't happen anytime soon. I have discovered a few cool things:
1. Sally Borden Gym at the Banff Centre. Typical gym with indoor pool, hot spa, steam room and recreation centre which I will definitely be making use of.
2. Banff Life. An organisation that runs activities for people under 30. They organise rock climbing and hiking tours around one a fortnight so I'm keen to tag along to a few.
3. Grand Nature Club. A hiking club that has a different hike every week with transportation. On Thursday I will be travelling to the Kootenays to hike the Paint Pots trail.
4. Summer Arts Program at the Banff Centre. Theatre, art, music and lectures/discussions - what more could you want?
On top of these I plan on joining the Ultimate Frisbee team when the season kicks off which should be a blast. I bought a new pair of hiking boots ($160) and a second hand bike ($90) which I plan on putting to good use. This afternoon I went for a ride out to the Banff Springs Hotel (the big one on postcards) and got soaked in the rain, but it was good fun!
Plenty to keep me busy, well I hope so!
