james did not promise too much. what i experienced the last weekend was a straight introduction into kiwi lifestyle. we started our day with a traditional kiwi bbq breakfast and then shopped me some things as i still only had my hand luggage and the awesome t-shirt star alliance provided me with. afterwards we headed up north. on our way we saw a rugby game, which is obviously a major part of kiwi culture. a mate of james, actually the one we spend the entire week end with was one of the worriers and did a great job (kicked some asses...). afterwards we took off to go to Russel, nz oldest capital. dine, james friend, has an amazing house there. the next day, of course after having had a bbq breakfast, we took dinos boat and were riding the waves (with the boat) at the amazing bay of islands. nz is such a great country. the combination of some vegetation i as a european am used to and the coolest tropical beaches really got me. unfortunately the weather didn't treat us too nicely but consequently riding the boat was more fun. in the evening we went back to auckland, took a nice costal road and enjoyed what nz has to offer. this day (2 days after my arrival) i rechecked with the airport if they are possibly thinking about finally bringing my bag to auckland. the answer was negative. my bag was still in egypt, from where the airport didn't get any answer. somewhat convinced that my pullovers will help an employee of this airport to keep him warm i decided to settle the issue with aua. amazingly they agreed to call the airport and 2 min. later my back was set to be send back to vienna and then to auckland. i felt quite some feelings of relief, as you can imagine. i mean, what is a backpacker without a backpack?
