I have waited for this day for a very long time. I finally get to go see a Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway.
The day started with Jo making a couple of fairly firm calls to both Air New Zealand and United to sort out where in the world the 'Red Rocket' had disappeared to. After a while on the phone it was found to be in Dayton, ready to be flown back to Chicago!
So Jo explained that we are staying near Dayton a few days yet so can they please have it delivered to the Batemans.
Soon after Clyde and I took the boys up to the track for a while before heading into Greenville to grab a few things and setup my Verizon Wireless Internet card with a prepaid account.
As we left Greenville Jo called to explain that the 'Red Rocket' was at the house. She was pretty excited and so too were the boys.
Upon getting home the boys rushed straight upstairs and put their bathers on. How could we refuse them a swim?
After a swim the boys were pretty tired and we decided we would put them down for a sleep before heading over to the track.
Before I knew it, Clyde was tapping me on the shoulder to tell me that we better get moving.
It was 5.30... whoah.
So after a quick shower we headed over the track for the big event.
The record books will show that Steve Kinser is King XVII but I really feel for Kerry Madsen. He ran an awesome race and let right until the penultimate lap.
The Kings Royal is an amazing race.
The crowd is huge and the atmosphere is electric.
Still pretty pumped from what I witnessed tonight I sat up doing photos after the races and got into bed rather late.
