Brazil was not part of our trip, because it would cost bob and i $100 US each to be able to enter, so we decided to go to Paraguay from Foz de Iguazu, Argentina. After getting our visas at 6 the night before, mind you way after they where closed for the day. I guess things are a lot more slacked then back home, the woman that did our paper work lived down the street and came back just for us, all the paper work was done in 10 min and US$90 for both of us.
We then got on a bus Friday that said Paraguay, we assumed that because Paraguay was right over the river from Argentina that we would be going strait their. We get on the bus with a group of Paraguayans that must be crossing the boarder weekly to work, we paid US$1 and off we went. As we sat down i realized that everyone around us was not speaking Spanish, mmmm they where all speaking Guarani. Guarani is the non official language, yet seems to be spoken more then Spanish. We road on the bus for about 20 minutes, when bob pointed out that the sign we just passed said Welcome to Brazil. This was a little disconcerting, seeing its large fine not to have you US$100 visa and oh yeah we thought we were going to Paraguay, not Brazil. The bus pulls over at the immigration area and everyone gets of, so we decide to follow the locals and pretend we know what we are doing, but did ask the driver if we were going on the right bus for Paraguay. Oh i forgot to mention that everyone left their stuff on the bus. We all got off and went through Argentinean customs and got our exit stamp on our passports. Then all back on the bus for about a quick 2 min, and then again everyone got off, so we just followed. This time we scuffed our feet on a couple of different colored mats and then got back on the bus.
To our surprise we got to spend about 30 min in Brazil for free, and in a bus, but now we can say we were there.
