Bula! Fiji was amazing! For all of you who love long walks on the beach, this is the place to be. After 22 hours of grueling travel it was nice to relax on the beach and adjust to the huge time change-17 hours ahead of EST (we think). We stayed in a little bungalow complete with an ornate outdoor shower off of our bathroom. The highlight of our trip was when we went scuba diving. We swam through a school of barracuda, held a sea cucumber, and saw an 8 foot nurse shark sleeping in a cave only five feet away! We saw a traditional Fijian fire walking ceremony and drank Kava, a tongue-numbing concoction made of four year old, dried root mixed with water that tasted like dirt, and essentially was. We participated in a game of pool basketball which involved a lot of groping, attacking, and general mayhem. Needless to say Sara now bears a scar on her ribcage! Our days consisted of laying on the beach, reading, and sleeping on the beach. This was so exhausting that we were forced to go to bed at 7pm every night. Despite the fact that we were nearly attacked by a colony of angry, claw-bearing crabs while climbing in the rocks on the beach, the hotel guests all thought we were a lesbian couple, and the wait staff thought we were cheap (which was true), it was a great start to our trip!

I have been slaving away back in Corporate land, so I can say now more than ever that I am so happy for both of you that you're doing this. Just don't become lunch for any sea crocs...

Hey ladies of down under/over... first I'd like to say that this website is totally cool. Second, I'd like to say that those pictures of Fiji are absolutley breathtaking. I wish I was there with you. Please keep posting pictures and notes about the trip. Anything that is unsuitable for readers under a certain age, please e-mail that to me as you know I am always looking for gossip. What an Adventure!
Sara, It looks breathtaking. Just returned from Israel
and we're planning to go to Bali to celebrate the big
birthday for Uncle Bill. I hope our beach is half as beautiful as Fiji. At least relaxing in Bali will help to ease the pain of getting 'older'. I have written to my friend Ephrem who is a neighbor in my bldg in HK, but is from Sydney. She has just sold her house and moved into their new apt. She has two 20-somthing daughters. I have asked for her phone (the mother in me) so you will have a contact if god forbid, you have an emergency. You also might like to meet her daughters. Her husband worked on the communications for the Sydney olympics and is now working on Beijing. They are lovely, fascinating people. Stay well, enjoy each day...and we'll see you in HK in June.
