Moving to another country has it's ups and downs.
It's been a hectic few weeks in NZ while we try to figure out where to next for us - it turns out job-hunting in a recession is pretty tough, so Gabrielle's decided to go back to university in Christchurch, since we've always loved the city and it seems as good a place to start as any.
In the meantime, we've been enjoying the change from Canadian winter to NZ summer - lots of time up at Lake Tarawera swimming, boating and hanging out in the hotpools, a trip to Tongariro National Park to do the stunning Tongariro Crossing hike again with Gabrielle's family (this time, no snow!), and even a stop at Mahia to swim with the friendly local dolphin, Moko.
We're not really sure what the next year holds for us, but the last few weeks have definitely reminded us what an amazing country this is, and we're pretty sure we'll be able to keep ourselves busy.
South Island, here we come!
All our best from NZ,
Dan and Gabes
