I don't even know what to say about this day. It was one of my best travel days ever. I'll say top 3. It was just unreal how incredible this scenery was. I've never seen anything like it. And the fact that we just jumped on motorbikes and took off on our own - no guides, no sales people, no tourists around - means that it was just a non-stop, 10-hour tour of rural Vietnam and images I wouldn't have believed existed if I didn't get to see it with my own eyes. It was almost absurd what an awesome day it was.
The downside is that they were building a road that means cars and tour buses may go where only motorbikes and bicycles can now go. We got an intimate and private view of what may soon be irrevocably altered by mass tourism. The beauty of this day made my heart swell, but it breaks it to think that what I experienced will probably very soon cease to exist.
Just check out the pics. And I'll admit they can't possibly do the area justice.
