We found a nice place behind Bumrungrad hospital on Sukhumvit Soi 1. It's a cool part of town where a lot of expats live. We're right on the BTS (sky train) and the canal is 15 feet from our condo. It doesn't smell as we'd been warned and ferries run to the main malls. Still, we ride the BTS most of the time.
I love this part of Bangkok. It's not too posh and modern, but it's close to everywhere we might need to get to. The sky train means we can avoid traffic entirely and be at work or hot spots in town in 20 minutes. We're also in the Middle Eastern neighborhood, so we have access to some great non-Thai food. We eat shawarma and falafal as much as chicken and rice. The hospital has several restaurants and a cafeteria, so that helps too. And it's not your everyday hospital. It's where people fly into Thailand to get work done and royalty goes, so it's like having a mall next door.
So our place is cool. I love it here, Lindsey likes it here, and we'll be around for a while.
