It is sunny this morning, the grass is a little dewy. We have our showers and breakfast then pack up. The couple from Austria next door come to say good-bye to us as do the 3 bikers from Lucerne. Camping is camping all over and easy to make acquaintances with your neighbours.
The campsites do not have individual electrical outlets, water, or sewers. There is one circle to plug into, and they haul their water to their trailers and then empty their little holding tanks. There is no set place to park, it is just as you like.
We go for a walk into town to see the church and fortress high on the hill. There is a story here, but we haven't found out what it is. We can't get up to the fortress. We walk along the river path looking for the covered bridge. We finally give up after several kilometers and head back to the camp site. We get in the car and drive back into town, we just had a few more kms to walk to get to the bridge.
It is a very beautiful covered bridge, only for pedestrians now. In the river there is a barge with a serpent on it. The serpent is made up of all the items found in the river, quite an original idea.

Back on the road and down to Lucerne. It is another beautiful drive in the mountains and through tunnels. The GPS takes us right to the centre of town, which is the old area and where we want to be. We walk towards the river and the lake and come across two covered bridges and two regular bridges. We cross to the old town side, some of the hotels, homes and buildings here have paintings on them. Some are about the history, some fairytales and fantasies and some just decorative. There are fountains and then the old wall which is at the back of the city on the mountain side. We walk back down to the lake and watch people in paddle boats, sail boats and tour boats coming and going all against a beautiful snow capped mountain backdrop. We head back to the car and onto our next stop which is Interlaken.
Along the road we pass signs saying 30 or 34 degrees Celsius, it is warm, but we didn't think it that hot. We make a stop along the drive to look at a clear lake that is a beautiful blue colour. Yes, I think it is that hot out.
Once in Interlaken we find a camping sign and follow it here. We pull in and then walk back into town for diner. We sit at an outside table just off the main street thinking it will be quiet here just off the street. A tour bus pulls up and the people get off here and are sorted and told which hotel to go to in the area. The group is from India and there are loud voices figuring out who will go where.
The campground is also a hostel with a kitchen equipped with pots & pans. There are fridges to put your marked food in, 5 cooking areas and 3 sinks. You clean up right after you cook so someone can use the pots or pans and utensils. There are also 2 buildings of washrooms and showers and also 2 washers and dryers. There are dorms, tenting areas, tents with kitchens you can rent and permanent RV's set up. They also rent out bedding and you can put a refundable deposit down for a kit box with dishes, mugs and cutlery. A bit more than the last place, but we are in Interlaken a very big tourist area. Interlaken River Lodge.
