Where I stayed
Back for more movies, it seems to be a Tom Hanks day.
The rain has stopped. At 5 we go to get my pants, they fit good, but the capri's are a bit tight so she marks them and will get them remade. We go down to the river area, but it is really wet there, so we decide to go to the restaurant where Judy and Joyce had the prawns. On the way we stopped in at a pasterie shop. Maybe we should just stop here and try one of everything, they all look so good. There are lemon tarts, pecan tarts, cold cheese cake, kahlua white chocolate cake, cream puffs, croisonts, and chocolate croisonts, individual tiramasu cakes, strawberry tarts and so much more. We did decide to come back.
First we have some garlic bread just loaded with garlic, and then our prawns arrive, there are 6 of them, in a garlic butter sauce with roasted garlic buds in the centre and then really skinny strips of celery, carrot and another veggie arranged on top. We also ordered fried rice and vegetables. It is delicious, the prawns are so fresh and tasty.
We did go back to the pastry shop. Len had the pecan tart and I the kahlua white chocolate cake. Oh my, both were so very rich tasting. We shared and they really satisfied both of us for a sweet fix. The cake was a cake bottom, cream layer, cake another cream layer, whip cream on top and I counted 11 very large white chocolate curls. I think I will go back to get some stuff for the bus ride tomorrow night.
It begins to rain so we head back to the hotel and another movie 'Outsourced' which we both enjoyed, especially thinking we are going to India in about 6 - 7 weeks.
I forgot to tell about the bus ride, once out of the towns we go over a mountain range. We pass a bike tour group. The mountain must have been a challenge. Crazy drivers, there are no passing signs both going up and coming down, the road has lots of curves, and yet this bus passes other busses or trucks and we are passed by other busses.
Back on the flat land we pass lots of waterbuffalo that are grazing along the highway. I must say, we are on highway 1 or 1A and it is just 2 lanes, one going north and one south. The sides of the roads are paved so 3 vehicles can pass easily. We pass three waterbuffalo with three young kids chatting away, laying on each watterbuffalo's back. Quite picturesque, as this is one of the quite common silk paintings we've seen for sale. Then the road comes down to run by the China Sea. We pass lots of very large resort hotels under construction. The sea is quite rough in this area, but I guess all the resorts will have their own pools. Our plan for today to rent bikes and ride back to the sea was rained out. Hope tomorrow will be a sunny day.
