Maine it is. Lots of Moose Xing signs, but so far the only moose we see hangs on the front of our truck, a little brass one. the folks in our CG said they saw one (real) recently while hunting for partridges, so we will be vigilant.

Today we traveled onto Greenville, the hub for the Moosehead Lake area. A surprisingly large town for such a remote area. We took a nice one hour ride on the refurbished lake steamer, the Kathadin. Unfortunately, the tour lasted three hours. This lake is 40 miles by 20 . Biggish to be sure. They have ice races for cars in the winter (doh) on 4 feet of ice, described by the captain as "amusing". I do know that an Alfa GTV6 with 4 studded tires makes a very good ice racer...

There's a good sized mountain outside of town that has ski runs. So the snowmobilers have some options. Once again we find ourselves following in the footsteps of Thoreau.(see pic)
Spent a long night wondering what was crashing onto our roof forgetting that we'd parked under an apple tree...

Brenda had to do 4 loads of laundry before we could leave Greenville, ($16 worth of quarters) but that gave us time to get a great blueberry pie at the church bazaar. Maine blueberries are the best, quite small and full of flavor. We're now about fifty miles out of Bangor and will check it out tomorrow. today's drive down here was on beautiful country roads, some being lanes at best. Just lovely country, quinticentially "farmy".
