Today we arrived in Amsterdam! We landed at 7:15 am local time and after getting our luggage and going through customs, we departed for Kasteel Well. The busride itself was pretty uneventful, except for my first glances at Dutch windmills and tulips. However, pulling up to the castle itself is completely mind-blowing. One minute, you're driving through the town of Well with its corn fields and pastures, and the next minute you are in front of an incredible 15th century castle straight out of a fairy tale. To say it looks like Hogwarts does not even do it justice. Everything about the castle, from its 2 moats to the bridges and the gardens is stunningly beautiful. We were immediately gathered in the "dining hall" (which is set up more like an adorable European cafe), and were served lunch. Afterwards we were introduced to the castle staff including our two gorgeous residence life directors, Johnny and Renee. I think they're the most beautiful men I've ever seen in person. I am in love. With them and the Castle. So after all the introductions, we were shown to our rooms. The castle itself is split up into two buildings: the Main Castle (MC) and the Vooburcht (VB), which is the outer building and is more rustic and hogwarts feeling. My room is MC 27. It overlooks the two moats and one of the castle's two towers. To get to my room, you enter the Main Castle doors, go up a staircase on the right, and then are greeted by a gorgeous wooden spiral staircase. Then you take a left and are at my door! After getting into our rooms, my roommates and I decided to unpack and get to know each other better. I am so happy to say that they are both awesome and so much fun! Vanessa, I knew of course, but Nicole is so friendly and hilarious, and the three of us are a perfect match! We had to wait for Huber (he's kind of like the Groundskeeper) to come and do our room inventory and get our internet set up. He is really sweet and funny, and is definitely a silver fox, which leads me to believe that all Dutch men are gorgeous! We didn't get to see a lot of the castle or town today, but after dinner, Vanessa and I and a bunch of others decided to wander through town. We wound up at the Cafe Vink, where we all had our first legal drinks in Europe. And don't worry, we didn't get trashed. In fact, its 9:00 pm and we are home because we are absolutely exhausted! The next few days will be busy and exciting, and I can'y wait to see what's in store!!!
