What I did
Cheese rolling festival
This event now is considered unofficial....so we did find it somewhat amusing that there were 'unofficial' helicopters, medical assistants and TV cameras present on the day!
The sun was out, it was warm and there were crowds of people when we got to Cooper's hill. The hill itself was so incredibly steep, it wasn't well kept and for the life of me I could not understand why anyone in their right mind would want to run/fall down a hill like this.
But nevertheless, we all couldn't wait to see the carnage that was going to unfold in front of us. We got a spot on the side of the hill, trying to get our footing (which wasn't easy) and using lumps and thistles in the grass to stop us from sliding down to the bottom.
The cheese was let loose down the hill, the madness begins. People were flying down the hill, summer salts, flips and face plants, bloody hilarious! Dan was going to go in it, but I think after seeing the hill, opted out...which is fair enough! The men's race was definitely the funniest but some of the girls in it went all out and also had some massive falls. The last race was not so good for a guy that was only a couple of metres from the top. He managed to snap his leg, and in doing so showed the crowd the leg that was now backwards on his body....the crowd went from cheering to ewww's.
After the races we all went to a pub in Gloucester to enjoy a beverage and have a laugh about the day.
A great way to spend a bank holiday and with good company (Megs, Erin, Pip, Nick, Dani, Wigs) to go with it.
Trying to get back to the place we got our car from was ridiculous, and very funny. After driving around for 15 minutes going round and round the point of our destination, we finally managed to find the street that led us there. That's London for ya!! What a mission.
