Dubai is amazing! Such a rich country that definitely does nothing by halves. It is normal to see Ferrari's and Lamborghini's driving around or parked on the side of the road (Dan was in heaven).
The weather is on the mild side for Dubai, which sits at about 35-40 degrees during the day. I can tell you now, i am glad that we are not visiting in summer which can hit the late 40's.

Wed 3rd Oct:
Our first day here we went for a look around the Hotel, went for a swim and planned what we were going to be doing for the next 5 days. The Hotel is pretty cool, shaped like a cruise ship and has cool glass elevators.

Thurs 4th Oct:
Our first adventure out was to the Mall of Emirates, where we window shopped all the expensive brands (so hard not to buy anything - but i did it). This was one of the smaller malls, which still took us the day walking around to see it all. The main attraction for us was the fact that there was a Ski field in the mall.

Fri 5th Oct:
Today was our Desert Safari Tour. We were picked up from our hotel and headed straight out into the Desert. Here we did what was called 'Dune Bashing', which was basically 4WDing in the desert. A fleet of 4WD's all go out together and have some fun in the sand dunes, which was pretty cool. The desert was quite hot, a little windy when we were there and it spans for miles!
We then drove to a camp in the middle of nowhere, where we were able to experience Camel riding, amongst other things and had a BBQ dinner. After dinner was a belly dancing and magic show. We met a really cool couple from HongKong on our Safari too.

Sat 6th Oct:
Dubai mall was our next visit. HUGE mall, we didn't manage to get around all of it, but we did get to experience the amazing Aquarium that sat in the middle of the mall. It is one of the largest tanks in the
world at 51m x 20m x 11m. It has 33,000 living
animals, representing more than 85 species including over 400 sharks
and rays combined. This baby holds 10 million litres of water!!!

The next sight that tickled our fancy (as you can see by the photos) was the Candylicious store. CANDY everywhere!! I could have happily lived there forever :). The same goes for the Hershey's store, where we found 'hershey's nuggets' and thought that was real funny and had to take a photo :P

We went for a wander outside of the mall and got to see the famous Burj Khalifia (tallest building in the world) which stood 165 stories high. We also took a look at the dancing fountains which is said to be an amazing water show, but only goes between 9.25-9.30pm. Might stay to see that next Tues when we climb the almighty tower :)

Sun 7th Oct:
Today we went on a Dubai City Tour, which took us around all the major tourist spots and gave us a bit of history about Dubai. Sites we got to see were, Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Palm beach, Jumeirah Mosque, Dubai Museum, Gold, Silk and Spice Souk.

Mon 8th Oct:
WILD WADI WATER PARK!! Was heaps of fun. Felt like we came out of there having full on colon clean after tubing around the park on slides that took you upwards! As you can imagine you would need a lot of high pressure water underneath you for this to happen. Very clever and heaps of fun. Dan and I even managed to get stuck halfway uphill :S how embarrassing! In our defense we had just had lunch...but this was really not okay in my books haha
Overall there was some really cool rides...would definitely recommend it :)

Last day :(
Our last adventure is to climb the mighty Burj Khalifia. Firstly, I have never been in an elevator that took me 125 levels high in about 30 sec, that has flashing lights and music that leads you to the top of the building. The view from the top was amazing, gave us a real birds eye view of Dubai. We got to see the man made World islands and Palm tree islands, but unfortunately weren't able to get pictures of these due to the sun glare on the glass.

We hung around the Dubai mall for a bit to see the famous 'dancing water fountain' that starts at 6pm, just as the sun goes down. The music was loud, the water was lit up and it actually looked like it was dancing...pretty cool show if you ask me. I managed to get it on video too! Not only that, we got to see the Burj Khalifia at night, which looks absolutely amazing. Today was a great end our Dubai adventure. Farewell Dubai....bring on PARIS!
