Finally I have a chance to sit down at the computer and give you all an update on my travels! Welcome to Holland, the home of wooden shoes, windmills, tulips, and few of the Worldīs most famous artists. I arrived in Amsterdam on September 7 and spent most of the first day getting lost and remembering how confusing Amsterdam can be. After spending a night in one of Amsterdamīs "fine" youth hostels I met up with some Dutch friends, Ilona and Julia, for some good 'ol Dutch pancakes. After that I was invited to stay at Ilona's apartment in Leiden which is about 30 minutes from Amsterdam by train.

Having been to Holland before I was determined to see more of the country than just Amsterdam this time. Since Holland is a fairly small country going around from place to place is relatively easy and inexpensive. First Ilona and I decided to take a trip to Volendam which is known for being a very classic Dutch town. After Volendam I took a day to explore Den Haag which is the seat of Dutch government and home to several of the country's museums.

Finally I returned to Amsterdam for two more days and prepared to leave for Paris. All in all I had a good time in Holland although I was glad to get out of Amsterdam because it seems over touristed and can quickly drain your finances. Bon jour Paris!
