Where I stayed
Pami & Mark's property out on their lake!
It was a long winding road, through many roads, ending on a dirt road with gigantic horseflies swarming our car...we wondered, where could it end? Their place is northwest of St. Louis about 2 1/2 hours. And we were facsinated at how beautiful their home away from home was! 44 acres of middle-of-nowhere quiet!
Fortunately, those horseflies didn't bother us too much. They are like an inch big and they bite! The kids got their fishing poles out. Even caught some fish! They took the boat out on the lake by themselves, searching for the perfect fishing spot. It amazed me how well they were getting along. They found some fat little toads and made habitats for them. The dogs kept them busy as well. Hunter took a swim as soon as we got there. It was blazing hot! Got to be around 100 degrees! Thank goodness for air conditioning!!
Mark took the kids around the lake on his 4-wheel ATV - they loved it! He promised tomorrow he'd show them how to shoot a rifle! Pam and I got to relax on the porch and watch the hummingbirds! They have a beautiful cabin that they built this year, with a stone wall behind their wood burning stove and walls that they made look like old log cabin by taking a blow torch to them! Looked really cool!
Mark barbqued pork steaks for us - delicious!
After all the hustle and bustle from place to place, this was like a slice of heaven to just RELAX!!
