Ah!  We needed a day like this!

We made it to Maid of the Mist this morning.  We donned our blue plastic rain coats and boarded the boat.  It's amazing how close they get you to these thunderous falls!!  It rains on you like torrential downpour!  If not for our fancy blue baggies, we'd be soaked!  Phil took video of it with his handy dandy waterproof camera.  After a few minutes, I was thinking, "Okay - I'm good now!  We can go back now!"  Seems like we were there forever!  The kids weren't scared at all.  It was very steady.  It wasn't like we were tossing and turning and hanging on for dear life because if we were dragged under those massive waterfalls we'd all be dead or something!  ...no no!

We ceremoniously checked out the souvenier shop. Gotta get our postcards and magnets! (Not that I've mailed any yet!  I keep wanting to get that done! Probably should pay some bills too. But you'd have to sit still for that.)  The kids got some spending money from a generous relative, so they bought themselves something to remember their amazing experience at this one of a kind place.  A bow and arrow set and a rabbit pelt.....oh, and an I love Gramma keychain.   You can guess who bought what!

Back at Arlene's, she treated us to lunch.  Her whole gang was here! Cynthia & boyfriend Steph, Celeste (without boyfriend Harry), Zenon & girlfriend Charlotte.  Zenon & Charlotte had just flown in from Anaheim where they attended a wedding. I think maybe for a friend on the Ducks?  Anyway, it was great to see them all!  We got to go down the hill to meet Charlotte's horse.  Certainly the highlight of their day!  (what falls???)  Zenon picked them up high and put them on Lilly and Charlotte let each of them take a quick turn.   She promised they could ride her tomorrow. Lilly is a 7 year old gentle horse.

Then...the girls picked plums with Celeste. The most delicious plums!  The tree was loaded!  They talked her into baking something!  A Plum Confruite (Mianna, help me with this one!) tasted delicious - like a bread pudding or something - topped with a drizzle of honey and some a la mode!

Zenon & Charlotte had to meet some friends & Cynthia & Steph got to go to a Lady Gaga concert!  So Arlene & Celeste cooked some sausage & hot dogs for us. After dinner out on the deck, the kids decided to put on a play for us down below in the backyard.  Complete with scenes, plots, drama, and the demise of Chief Heartattack. It had an Indian theme, go figure.(sidenote:  We suspect Katrina came up with that name when her father exclaimed that he almost gave her a "heart attack" when she tried to climb over the railing of a bridge at the falls....but that's another story!)  Following the performance, there was a hip hop contest.  They provided the music.

They all took baths in the glorious spa tub, here at Le Chateau - they are soooo spoiled here.  Us too!  Celeste sang a few songs with them and we put them to bed.
