Time for a little rest and relaxation by the Caribbean at Peurte Columbia (Since we´re not visiting Columbia this is the closest we could get in name!). The journey there was an experience in itself. Think of the Ring of Kerry in an old school bus in the early 80´s multiply by 10 and you are close! The mountainous scenery was superb but there was barely enough room for the bus in parts not to mention the other buses and cars coming in the opposite direction. It was our first time experiencing a three-point turn employed to negotiate a hairpin bend - the bends were literally 180 degrees and too narrow to fit through at the first attempt.
Peurte Columbia is a nice fishing village which for some reason has very narrow footpaths coupled with protruding ornate barred windows which one has to compete with to stay off the road. Designed for stick-insects perhaps. The star attraction is a beatiful long white sand beach with crystal clear water and crashing surf surrounded by mountains and palm trees. I´ll say no more!
