Yes, it is a shark!  And a sting ray, and a turtle and lots and lots of fish!  We went out again on the boat today for a couple of snorkels and this time we went to Shark Ray Alley.

The weather did not look so great, lots of dark clouds and a bit windy, but the wind died down and the dark clouds passed.  Under the water it didn't matter anyway, it was another world.

The first place we stopped was close to the barrier reef, about 500m out from shore and close to a gap in the reef that the boats use to go out to the open ocean. We got in and straight away the current started to pull us away from the boat.  The wind was coming from shore and the current was very strong.  I was with Colton and Mitchell was with Peter.  We swam around for a bit  and checked out the reef. We saw a turtle but the spanish guy near me freaked out so I missed getting a photo. The current was bothering me, it was pulling us toward the opening in the reef where the boats go out to the open ocean.  Colton and I headed back to the boat, but we were the only ones that made it.  The boat guy made it back and had to motor over and pick the others up because of the current.

Next we headed off to Shark Ray Alley.  As soon as we pulled up there were heaps of sharks all around the boat, all different sizes.  The area is obviously a breeding area for sharks and rays.  They get attracted to the boat motor thinking that they will be fed.  As soon as we all got in (yes even the boys)  they disappeared, not interested in us unless we were going to feed them!  We swam around for a while admiring the fish and coral.  So many different sizes and types of fish and I did manage to see a shark and get a photo.  We got back on the boat and one of the guys from another boat actually caught one of the larger sharks in his arms and we took some photos.  So they are really quite docile and harmless.
