We went straight to Kaitiaki White Water Rafting Center on our arrival in Roturua to hit the rapids. The reason we chose Kaitiaki was because there's a 7m drop as part of it. There were 14 rapids altogether and we were also taught a bit of Maori culture along the way. We were the second last dinghy to go over the fall and we got through it without capsizing. The group behind us however were not as lucky and when they all ended up in the water there was a big rescue effort which involved dragging the girls into our boat. The drama! We kept our boardshorts on after rafting and went straight to Zorbing which involves hopping into a big plastic ball of water and rolling downhill. Really good fun, albeit the fun is over really quickly for the price!
We headed to Amy Royston's gaff that evening and had some dinner with herself and Mike who were kind enough to let us kip in their spare room for two nights. The next day we went to the blue lake which is outside Rotorua. We did an hour walk around it followed by a swim and a picnic lunch. We then headed into town where I hit the hairdresser while Michael took a drive. Hooked up with Amy, Mike and Amy's mate Becky after work and headed to Hennesey's Irish Pub where we had two for one dinners thanks to vouchers Grechy found in a Backpacker Magazine. Oh lots of Hot Springs in Roturua so it stinks of eggs but you definitely get used to it. Slept very well in Roturua, thanks Amy and Mike for your hospitality!
