Ok the stupid website says Koh Pha-ngan but we were actually on the island of Koh Tao not Koh pha-ngan ..that'll be New Year's Eve! Anyway...

Koh Tao.. Ok so getting to Koh Tao was somewhat of an experience, we were to get a sleeper train, then a bus, then a ferry.

Sleeper train - didn't end up going first class in the end cos we left it too late to book it so we went second class... Culture shock hit us slightly here I must say and the odd feeling of sleeping on a train where hundreds of passengers could wander past if they felt like it. Bit of a shame that within ten minutes of being on the train the guy next to us had already shown us the weed he was smoking and had been sitting shouting in his own language (whatever that was!) about god knows what. It's ok, we avoided all eye contact and declined his offer of tobelerone... Accept no sweeties from strangers!

Top bunk (G's) was the smallest.. Not sure how I got the draw actually seeing as I'm about 3 miles taller than D lol but made more sense seeing as I do not move when I sleep, miss fidget pants would've ended up on the floor as soon as she shut her eyes. Ok so, not too bad so far..getting used to our surroundings we fell asleep around 10.30ish, although both a little worried seeing as we had no idea if we'd be told that we're at our stop (at 4.30am) so we both woke up before then to make sure we didn't miss it.. No chance of that it turns out, I'll get on to that later.
While we were sleeping the guy I previously mentioned was ranting and raving throughout most of the night to several staff and security, Danielle and I both thankful that security was also next to us! The guy was ranting about someone stealing his money, adamant for hours it was 5,000 baht (£100) but then randomly changed his mind to 2,500 baht to 10,000 back to 5,000 again. Morals of the story, say no to drugs and always book 1st class if you can afford it.

Anywhoooo.. So we woke before 4.30 getting ready to get off the train when we're told that there's been a two hour delay, to go back to sleep and security will wake us.... Bit annoying but ah well, more sleep! So we wake up just over two hours later.... Another two hours delay... Back to sleep we go. Meanwhile I'd moved down to Danielle's bunk with her, much to her delight! Woke up again and decided to order breakfast seeing as another two hours had been added on. By now we had missed our following bus and ferry that we'd already booked and paid for, I wanted to panic and D was very close too but we both decided to take the attitude that we'll get there when we get there and to just chill. We finally arrived at 10.30am!!! 6 hours late but lots more sleep than we had expected, every cloud n all that. Along with about 100 other passengers we were told we'd missed our ferry and there were no more from that company going to Koh Tao that day... Shit! But magically another company would take us but we'd all have to pay again, a few we're ranting and raving and the Thai people were very happy to screw us out of our money. Not much in the scheme of things but it seems various nationalities do not take kindly to being.. How you say.. Mugged off! But, ho hum.. We got our bus and ferry and arrived at Koh Tao, a bit worse for wear as we BOTH fought sea sickness this time but glad to have touched down nonetheless. We may possibly be able to use the original ferry tickets at a different time, fingers crossed on that one.

We settled in a lovely private bungalow ..£10 a night.. after getting a 'taxi,' aka sat in the back of a pick up truck, to our hotel and sorted ourselves out for a lovely thai beachside dinner. I'm officially addicted to cashew nuts in my food. Nom nom. Most people come here to dive on the reefs but as that's not for us we thought it'd be a great place to chill for a few days.. Famous last words lol.

The next evening we met up with Danielle's friend Emma, who she met in Majorca working a season, and her friend who is also called Emma. Nice sophisticated meal by the beach but then... The buckets took over! Danielle & I shared two buckets in the restaurant then we all moved on to the next bar, I have no idea where the idea came from but before I knew it I was laying on the bar with salt on my stomach, alcohol in my belly button and a slice of lime in my mouth with Emma stepping up to take the shot lol.. All good fun and we were having a little boogie on the beach too. Then they whipped out the fire... If anyone knows me well enough they'll know I'm a bit of a piro.. Great fun though with a flaming skipping rope! We shared another bucket and I put my free shot in it too (for being the body in the body shots!)
We then went on to a third bar along the beach, taking guys we found along with us! We somehow got bought a fourth bucket which we could barely finish and I got another free shot for jumping over a limbo stick.. Not sure that's correct but whatever, I took it. Brilliant night.. Safe to say the alcohol affected me worst and I got in and passed out.. After doing bride impressions with the mosquito net, obviously.

Ohhh myyy life.. Did I regret drinking so much?? I was so hungover the next day and everyone else was fine. I should've reminded myself that I hadn't drank in two months, I'd lost weight and the drinks are strong!! Shit..! I threw up all day Til about 4 then slept for a bit.. I just about managed to drag my arse out for dinner with the girls where I ate a bit of rice. Ouchy... Must remember to drink water in future. I wasted this day but D went to the beach and sunbathed with the Emmas. Bless her though she popped back to see me every couple of hours making sure I was drinking, medicated and fed me tiny bits that I could keep down. Brilliant gf!

The next day it was time for us to leave, woke up with it chucking it down... Great day for a ferry ride... Off to the pier we go, destination Koh Samui.
