Where I stayed
Brittany Ferries - Pont-Aven
It shat down in Plymouth the whole time we were there. It shat down most of the trip down the tedious M5 from Wells to Plymouth too. We must admit we did think, where does this country get it's fucken weather from, which is a little unkind of us.
The vast number of bikes and bikers lining up to board the Pont-Aven was evidence that quite a lot of the British public were thinking the same as us. Its a regular trip for those who have the time and money to spare, fleeing for Spain for a few days riding in great weather. We both love the UK though, and really the weather was ok to lovely for most of our two weeks there.
Apart from apparently having mistakenly booked a broom cupboard for our night of ship-board romance, we found the ferry pretty damn pleasant. It's bloody big when you ride your bike into it's vast multistory car park affair. It's got 10 floors all up.
There's 3 restaurants - swanky, cafe-style and stand well back while they shovel into the troughs. We treated ourselves to the swanky level with the Farquar-Wagglestaffs. It was great too.
If you want you can buy almost anything if your credit card doesn't catch fire. We can recommend this trip as a relaxing pleasant way to cover a lot of distance in not much time.
And when we got off the ferry at Santander, there literally wasn't a cloud in the sky. Lovely, lovely sunny Spain. We love you already.
