After a night out in Paris and a few wines, we were up early to spring clean the apartment, the concierge arrived at 8.45 am and gave us the OK, so out the door to catch the RER to La Defense to pick up our new car!

A brand new Peugeot 3008 with 12 km on the clock.  Sara was disappointed there were no pink ones there, but as we walked up there was a silver and a white one.  They liked the white one and that was what we got - lucky day!

Then braved the traffic going the wrong way and getting used to the GPS.  We didn't have it set right and ended up paying 6.50 Euro to travel in a 2 metre high tunnel under Paris, mind you it probably saved me driving around the Arc de Triomphe!

Got to Versailles OK but didn't have the GPS set to take us to the Chateau, finally got there but a tad stressful with roundabouts going the wrong way and traffic cutting across lanes.

Had lunch in garden at the Palace on the advice of the nice ticket lady which avoided the queues to get in, which was only 1/4 the length after lunch.  very nice having lunch where French Kings and Queens walked.....

Despite the queue being shorter, the palace was still packed inside and it lost it's lustre with the jostling crowds, and the girls didn't enjoy it although the rooms were magnificent with marble walls, fabric wallpaper and fresco ceilings.

After that it was hit the road toward Normandy with no prior booking.

We headed for Lisieux, basically it was pick a point on the map and go, just before 7.00pm we were all getting tired and hungry so it was take the 1st thing we saw which was good old Mickey D's but luckily there was an Etap hotel just over the road which did a good deal on adjoining rooms for us and the girls, so two jobs for the night out of the way, tea and bed.

The area we drove through prior to Lisieux is the Pays d'Auge and it's known for being the cider and dairy producing area of France.  It is very pretty and a real contrast to gritty Paris!

Then it was settle in and catch up on the blog and plan the next couple of days.
