With not having to travel today we all had a sleep in - 9.00am luxury. the apartment we are staying in is very quiet with no street noise whatsoever.
After a slow start we wandered out and went to an Tourism Office via the Quai Seine, saw the Pont Neuf, then past the Louvre, huge lines to get in, very daunting!
At the tourism office we bought a 2 day museum pass which let us short cut all the queues and Euro Disney tickets, mind you with a pocket knife in the backpack at the Louvre we had to check it in.
Did the tourist thing at the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo, then wandered around the Egyptian antiquities wing as the girls weren't interested in old paintings........
Then we strolled down to the Ile de la Cite to see the Notre Dame, again a long queue but it moved fast and didn't take long to get in. The queues for the climb to the top weren't moving fast so will go back in the morning and then visit the Sainte Chapelle, then go to the Arc de Triomphe and maybe go and see the Eiffel Tower, very hazy today and we could see it in the distance.
The language barrier is a bit hard but managed to buy lunch so aren't going hungry!
Wandered back to the apartment and bought a few groceries for tea, can't read the labels, nearly brought fromage frais instead of sour cream, wouldn't have gone down well on the burritos!
Paris is amazing, gritty, dirty (have to watch out for the dogshit), cosmopolitan, trendy and vibrant. Lots of interesting little streets and sights.
Still getting used to looking left for traffic, and the crazy scooters that ride on the footpaths and cut corners and run lights.....
