After being woken at 2.45am with torrential rain, I was glad we were leaving, and not trudging around Manhattan getting soaked. We had been so lucky with the weather. We caught the 5.20am shuttle to the airport and checked in, with again NO queues. Unheard of.
We had a Subway breakfast and was soon on the plane. Lyn had paid for an exit row for extra legroom, and I had been put next to him, free of charge, with Cian just across the aisle from us, also in extra leg room. Bliss - we had a bout 5 foot of space to stretch our legs out. And, what a difference a daytime flight makes; no pressure to sleep. We landed and Lyn drove home, without feeling too tired. We got in just before midnight, which still felt like 7pm to us, so I managed to unpack and get some washing in, before eventually going to bed at 2am. It was hard getting up the next morning, but the jetlag has been nowhere as bad as it usually is. Shame we have no daytime flight this summer!
To sum up, we've all really enjoyed this little break, although Cian would not want to go back to New York. His highlights of the holidays were as follows;
1, Uss Intrepid
2, Swiping his metro card in the subways
3, M & M world
I'm sure it's an experience he will always remember though. He's been fantastic throughout it; never complaining about the crowds, the walking, the shopping. What a star! *
