Monday was a well deserved relaxing day, after our long day getting here. Lyn and I are both suffering from altitude sickness; I had a terrible night with it Sunday night, and Lyn had it more during the day Monday. It's horrible! I feel really short of breath, and as if I have major butterflies in my tummy. Going upstairs is a nightmare, and we have 6 flights of stairs here! Lyn has been suffering from really bad head aches and shortness of breath. The kids have been fine, although Tegz has been complaining on generally not feeling well, at bedtime and in the morning. It's very hot here too, and easy to get dehydrated.

We had a lovely lunch of walnut bread, garlic bread and salad out on the decking, overlooking the golf course, and then went out to get some food for a BBQ at about 5pm. We stopped by the highway to take photos of the Sherwin Fire that is still burning. We watched the planes and helitankers fly over, dropping water. We could see huge flames. It's not far from us, but the town is not threatened unless the ind direction changes. They are using the High School as a fire base, so outside is full of fire trucks and fire crews!!! It's Tuesday morning now, and there is still a constant noise of aircraft overhead,

We had a little drive around Mammoth, bought food, drove past the High school twice (!!) and came back. Lyn cooked a lovely BBQ, and then we watched a film in our cinema room! Wow, even the lights dim automatically as the DVD starts. We all enjoyed Semi Pro, a basketball comedy with Will Ferrell.

We then spent an hour in the hot tub, (100 degrees and a changing light show in there), and then showered before watching another film, Daddy Day Camp, complete with home popped pop corn (thanks to Lyn, not me!). The kids loved it, especially when we got the Ben & Jerry's out!

We all went to bed about 1am!

Surfing for news about the fire this morning I came across an interesting article about "intense bear activity" in Crooked Pines a few days ago, where a bear entered a house. Guess where we are staying? Crooked Pines! Guess who slept with the door open last night because it was so hot?? Ooops!
