We flew back to Buenos Aires from El Calafate to connect with our flight to Lima. We cut about 3 weeks off of the trip because we were running out of money and missed our girlfriends. We booked the tickets when we were in Bariloche via the internet and telephone. Locotorios are life savers. Locotorios have internet, telephone and snacks in them, pretty sweet. We had booked both flights (Calafate - B.A. & B.A.-Lima) from locotorios in Bariloche and confirmed over the phone and in person. Our trip was seemingly long the day before we booked the flights because we still had half of our trip left. The day after we did our bookings, our half vacation had just been halved! The rush was one. We sped down to Calafate and Chalten to get some last minute sightseeing in. Flew back to Buenos Aires where we spent 5 days. The last 5 days in B.A. were pretty fun. We stayed in the Palermo area, which has beautiful parks and good shopping, as well as in the San Thelmo area again. We definitely fell in love with that area of the city. We stayed in Hotel Brisas Del Mar again, the cheapest place we found in all of South America. We did some shopping, some lounging around and just wound down before our marathon flying session began. The flight to Lima was an important one. We needed the flight to be on time, otherwise we might have missed our connecting flight in Lima to Toronto. Luckily LAN Airlines is one of the best companies in South America and everything ran according to plan. Customs was a breeze and we made it to the Air Canada baggage check to find that the line up was nearly 250m long! I've never in my whole life seen a line up so long in an airport. I'm talking about 250m past the switchback line where you're inside the rope. That was our biggest delay, but we still made it with plenty of time to spare. The flight to Toronto was okay. Lots of uncomfortable sleep, an hour late, bitchy flight attendants and horrible meals. Your standard Air Canada flight. Customs in Toronto wasn't the most pleasant experience. After we went through the booth and got stamped in, two security guards approached us and asked to see our passports. I thought it was kind of odd seeings how we just went through an interrogation with the customs official. These guys started asking us the same questions the customs official asked us, but in a far more invasive and rude manner. My interrogation ended after he asked me what I did for a living. He didn't know what an Arborist did, but when I explained he just gave me my passport back and told me to leave. Tasos ended about 10 seconds before mine and his guard was equally as assholish. Our time in Toronto was boring to kill beyond our adventure with the angry customs security, but soon we were home. Our friend Isaac was in on the coming home early surprise and met us at the airport to drive us home. I scared the crap out of my parents. They figured someone was breaking into the house around midnight. My dad was blindly looking for his baseball bat while he shakily asked who was there. Surprising my girlfriend Tessa was the real plan though. I went to her house while she was at work and chatted with her family. When she called her dad, Bob, to come pick her up, Bob called me and told me to go get her. I walked into Earl's and Tessa gave me this weird disgusted look. She didn't seem as overjoyed that I was home as I hoped she would. Deep down inside, I'm sure she is though. She punched me a couple of times before she actually embraced me. Yup, thats my girl. Welcome back to Canada.
