Today's outing is to Cape Tribulation.  We stopped off in Cow Bay for morning tea and had a lovely wander along the beach.  Fred has become a bit pre-occupied with looking for coconuts.  There are millions of trees but it appears that someone or something keeps beating him to the prize.
From Cow Bay we steadily climbed up the mountain.  Bazza & Mrs S had spent a lot of time in this area when they lived in Atherton, so they kind of knew the nice places to stop off.  We did a walk through the rainforest which was really beautiful before travelling on a little further to Thornton's Beach.  Apparently you could camp right on the beach in those days, however not any more.  I can only imagine how idyllic it must have been.
Next stop Cape Tribulation, this is where the Great Dividing Range slips into the sea.  The scenery is truly spectacular.  We stopped here for lunch then did a bit of exploring on the beach.  Fred has had no luck with his search for edible coconuts.  Life can be very disappointing at times.
Just before returning to the caravan park at Newell Beach, Bazza took us on a little detour to Wonga Beach, another one of their favourite camping spots.  To Fred's amazement the beach was littered with coconuts, of course we all had to collect a couple for him.  We'll probably carry them all the way home then throw them out.  If he actually eats any, then I'll eat my hat.
14th June:  This morning we went to Daintree Village.  So picturesque, I think the cattle here must be the happiest in Qld.
Tomorrow we will be making our may down the coast, but first of all Fred has to try and sort out the bloody mirror.  Did the superglue work on the second try?  Did it hell as like.  We called into a car repair shop for some advice, he sent us to Auto Pro and we have come away with yet another bloody tube of fantastic sticking stuff.  Why is this so difficult?
Tonight is also our last supper with Baz & Mrs Sellers, they are going back to Atherton to catch up with some of their old friends that they weren't able to visit when we were in Atherton a week ago.  The" P" Platers will be on their own!
PS Thanks Baz & Mrs Sellers for getting us on the road, we've had a great time and your advice has been invaluable.  See you in a couple of weeks time.
