We heard on the radio this morning as we headed for Longreach that we could be in for a bit of weather.  We pulled into town at 1pm and thought it might be a good idea to check into the information centre (they know everything).  We enquired about the free camp out of town, the very nice lady (they're always very nice ladies) advised us that it might be in our best interest to check into a tourist park tonight as there is a weather warning and if they do get a substantial rainfall we might find ourselves bogged down in the free camsite.  Never disregard good advice.
We have been on the road 2 days short of a fortnight and this is the first time we haven't free camped (apart from Emerald Show grounds)  The campsite is OK but not a patch on the scenery that we have been enjoying.  I cannot stress enough how lucky we are to have these fantastic places to camp for free, in most cases they only ask for a donation.  Being as we are on a proper campsite we have taken the opportunity of using the washing machines (wassing machines - chinese translation)  It's also nice to use their hot water and take a slightly longer shower.  I think I'm spending too much time with Mrs Sellers.  I was taking my shower tonight in the shower block when I decided to crank up the hot water a little, next minute the tap head flew off and landed on the floor, as I went to pick it up I inadvertently kicked it forward, it went hurtling underneath the shower door and came to rest about 3 foot from the shower cubicle.  As luck would have it it wasn't peak showering time, I stuck my head around the door, the coast was clear, so I was able to retrieve the errant tap handle.
We were also entertained tonight at the campsite by a bush poet.  Such a lovely entertaining old lag, I hope the tradition of the bush poet will always be cherished and preserved.

Oh so that's what you're doing Hel - pampering yourself in hot showers and generally poncing about being beautiful while the big man does the work. The shower sequence sounded fun!
