I am going to be going back to the Ordway entry, but like this trip I must move forward when given the opportunity. Kansas has been hot, windy, humid, and flat, with that beginning to change, well at least the flat part anyway. The hills have begun to roll and will be doing so all the way into Missouri, which is where I should be in two days. I would say that Kansas has been a test of will in regards to endurance in the heat and wind. I logged nearly three hundred miles in three days, centuries are grueling in regards to seat time. The people here have been friendly and everyone waves, it is almost creepy. The food here has been good, the furnace runs especially effeciently on steak and eggs in the morning. The scenery has been consistent if nothing else, corn, soy, wheat, and cows, just about in that order. Some of the nice things is that most of the small towns allow you to camp in the city parks for free and they have community pools, with showers. The pools have been a great way to escape the heat. I am not used to 103 degree days with humidity, and fortunately by local standards it has not been humid. I am going to be going out now as my siesta is coming to a close and I need to bike another 25 miles before I call it a day.
