Overnight I ticked off one of my life ambitions - to experience an earthquake (although the locals call them tremors when they are less than 7.0 on the Richter Scale). The only downside was that I slept through the whole affair, but Clare assures me it did happen.
Our last day in South America and we headed for a tour of one of Chile's most famous wineries - Concha y Toro. Here we learnt about their grapes, the Maipo Valley and sampled their produce. After the tour we enjoyed a delicious lunch along with some more wine in the beautiful surroundings of the vineyard.
Well fed, we headed to the airport for our flight to Melbourne (via Auckland) - and were delighted to luck out with another upgrade. This backpacking is hard work!
