The team ate an early breakfast, packed their belongings into our three safari vans, and set out for the six and a half hour trip back to Nairobi.  The first two hours of the trip were on rough roads, but the last four on smooth surfaced highways. All went well until we hit Nairobi Friday afternoon traffic, but we had allowed plenty of time, so we arrived at the Hilton at 2:30 to repack, freshen up, do last minute shopping and then back out again for dinner.

This dinner was at the famous Carnivore Restaurant, where waiters bring meats on a skewer right to your plate and slice it for you.  Before 2004, Carnivore used to serve things like giraffe, kudu, elephant and other exotic meats.  The Kenyan government changed the laws to protect the animals, so now the only "exotic" meats are camel, ostrich and crocodile.  Still it is quite an experience not to be missed when you are in Nairobi.

After dinner, which went later than we thought, we rushed off to the airport, where John bid the team farewell while he stayed behind to do some teaching and speaking before returning home. All went well on the trip home and everyone is back in Pittsburgh, never to be the same.  We are all grateful to God for His protection, for not one day was lost by any team member to sickness or fatigue. What's more, the time spent here will make all of us more productive and effective believers as we return home to continue serving Him where we are planted. Thanks to all our readers for your encouraging comments and most of all your prayer covering, which made all the difference in the world.  So for now, we sign off saying good bye, but not farewell, for we shall return in a few months with our final thoughts and personal favorite pictures to close out this particular travel blog.
