Finally, a chance to sit down and give an update. We arrived safely on Friday afternoon and were greeted very warmly by the people, our host pastor, and the weather. Thankfully, all bags arrived with us. The rest of Friday was spent getting some cultural introduction and resting from a very long day (a 5:00 am airport meeting time wears one out quickly). Saturday was a free day - we all slept in, met briefly to discuss a few things and then most of us hit the beach. You read that correctly - we hit the beach; it is Jamaica afterall. We also did some other local touristy types of things and pretty much relaxed and continued to mentally and spiritually prepare ourselves for the week ahead.

Today we gathered with the Cornwall Court Baptist Church to worship, with our own Rev. Leola Cherry preaching about the incomparable power of God at work in our lives and in the Church. This church was started in the Cornwall Court area of Montego Bay in 2006 and is still in its development stages, meeting at the local community center for now. The current pastor is Rev. Courtney Walters who also serves as a chaplain in the Montego Bay police department. The church is excited that we are serving in ministry together this week and anticipate that our common ministry will continue in the future. By the way, we were also able to present the church with a financial gift raised by CUBM for chairs that the church can call their own and also a gift of 50 bibles for the church to use for evangelism and discipleship ministries.

So far this has been a wonderful - and already stretching/growing - experience. Please pray for the ministry of Cornwall Court Baptist Church, Rev. Walters, our team, and this week's VBS ministry. We will keep you posted throughout the week...
