We have moved to Casa del Sol for the next couple of nights - which is a rental house at base camp  http://www.fincabellavista.net/rentals.html     Some moving fairy transferred all of our belongings, food, etc. to this house so the transition was easy.  It too has an outdoor shower.         If I had known before we arrived that the shower didn't have hot water, I would have thought that a disadvantage.  However, the water is warm and the air temperature is always hot, so it is perfect!

Our girls prefer the swimming holes at base camp, which are gentler than the ones near the treehouse.   There is one spot in the river where we float downstream with the current.  The kids have little inflatable rafts which they are spending hours playing with in the water.   I only swim in water that is warm, warm.  When My Man first told me about the wonderful swimming holes, I thought he was exaggerating - but it's true.  They are warm enough even for me.

A jaguar was spotted here this week, and we are hoping it returns soon because we would love to see it.  There are more of the enormous blue morph butterflies in this area lately.  Birds - I can't identify most of them other than to recognize that a hummingbird is a hummingbird.

    To-do list:
1.  study birds of Costa Rica so that I can identify the most common ones by sight and by song
2.  learn spanish
3.  find spanish classes for our kids

One advantage of being here is that the girls feel more secure by themselves at night, so we can hang out with other adults in the community area.  We are only a short walk away from them.
