I'm back in London, we arrived in Harwich bright and early about 3am and people with early departing flights started to disembark our home for the last 12 nights at 0400! For me, it’s always a little sad to leave a cruise especially when we’ve made friends with the crew. Last night was our last meal with the other travel agents in our seminar; many had to go to bed early since they had flights departing this late morning or early afternoon. We had a trek of our own getting from Harwich to East London by train. Due to today being a bank holiday, the train company decided to make the best of the low rider ship by doing track maintenance work on the segment of track pretty much in the middle of Harwich and London. What that meant for us and a couple other hundred cruise guests was taking two trains and a bus and then a cab in order to get home when this should really be able to get done with one train and one cab! At one point our train car was packed with more luggage than passengers and one group of 8 Spanish cruise guests had about 16 pieces of large luggage in the middle of the train car which meant anyone needing to get from one end of the car to the other had to navigate through the maze of luggage.
Tonight is our first meal post cruise and I will say I am going to miss our waiter "Ted" who was from Jamaica who greeted us every night with a smile, placed our napkins on our laps, poured our wine, made his funny jokes, and brought our food to us just the way we ordered it…….then again, there is something to be said for a home cooked meal!
