Driving out of Banff after 2 weeks in the bush was a bit of a cultural shock. Speeding along at 100k, no elk jams but fields with cows and horses, and those rock cliffs on the hills are really houses. It is definitely warmer here in Calgary, (high of 28 –but no humidity) and there is a lot more sky. It's nice to do laundry again and have internet but definitely no hook ups. (Good thing we have our little generator and 2 extra batteries.) Everything is booked up for miles around. School must be out and everyone is on vacation. Or maybe it’s because the Calgary Stampede is on. It opens today with a huge 3 hour parade. Lots and lots and lots of horses. (Learning to ride is now on my bucket list.) We stayed all day and watched as many rodeo events as we could. The Grandstand show was spectacular. Then it’s time to get out of the city.
