Hi everyone,

A short note to introduce our blog to a wider audience.  We have tried it on a couple of people and it seems to work correctly so we hope you enjoy reading our experiences over the next eight weeks.

Our training is winding down now and the rides are shorter.  I intend to put the bikes into their travelling boxes over the next couple of days.  The organisers would like us to pack them in cardboard bike boxes because these can be thrown away in Los Angeles but I doubt that carbon framed road bikes will survive so I have gone for hard cases with all the difficulties of transport and storage in America.

Now we have put our riding kit out the holdalls provided by the organisers look remarkably small! However, I am sure everything will go in.

We leave on Tuesday via Heathrow direct to LA.  We decided to treat ourselves to Virgin Premium Economy so that the trip will be a little more comfortable.

We have restricted the distribution of the blog to a relatively small number but if you know of anyone who would like to join please let me know and I will add them to the distribution.  I also found when I came to put together the distribution list that I was short of a few e-mail addresses and that others were out of date.  So if you were missed off, it was not deliberate and you are most welcome to join!

Best of luck to you both. It looks like work will not play nicely so we won't be able to see you in person but we'll be keenly following your exploits every step (revolution?) of the way!
