Dave and I left the house around 4:00 today to catch our 7:30 p.m. flight. When we got to the airport, we discovered the flight, and all others to LA, had been delayed. We left about an 90 minutes late. Our lay over was only 2 hours in LA, but with the delay we had 30 minutes to catch our connection to Bangkok. What I didn't know, and now do, is that the terminals are not connected. Rather you have to exit the domestic flights building, walk down the street about a mile (NOT really exaggerating here) to the International Terminal, and get back in a CRAZY long line to go thru security. Well....that all had to happen in 30 minutes. Good thing Dave had been there mulitple times before to know exactly what we were about ready to do. And good thing I have watched every season of Amazing Race to know when you partner tells you to run, you better pick up the pace. We were standing up waiting in line about 14 people from the plane door waiting for it to open. As soon as it did, we rushed out the plane. As soon as our feet hit the terminal we were full speed ahead running as fast as we could. We raced to the next building. We were pushing, (Gently and saying sorry) to people as we ran by. On one occassion the janitors were in the way with their big yellow trash can....it got pushed too. We made it to the International terminal to discover the long line at security. We begged like they do on AR for security to let us through, but they refused. We were instructed to go to the airline counter. Again.....we ran. Our airline representative was able to get us through security within minutes and we raced up the terminal to get to the gate. We made it....sweaty, red, and out of breathe. As soon as we got there we realized....our bags might not make it. But we were beside ourselves with happiness that we were actually headed to Thailand together....bags or no bags.
